Description: Almost every aspects of our life is gendered in a discriminatory way according to which women and minority groups are marginalized and are deprived from having equal opportunities in the society. The way we perceive peace/conflict and deal with them are no exception in this regard and is highly gendered. There are various factors involved in a conflict/peace process among which the issue of gender has been neglected for a long time. Today, not only it is discussed that sustainable peace is capable of leading to greater gender equality but also gender equality and gender inclusion in the process of decision-making is considered to be a vital task for the establishment and maintenance of peace. It was at the 2005 World Summit where the world leaders agreed on the important role of women in conflict prevention, resolution and peacebuilding. The certificate program of “Gender and Peace” aims to raise awareness of the participants on the importance of the above-mentioned correlation in studying of different aspects of peace and gender.
